About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer at Eftsure, you will be at the forefront of our data transformation, pioneering the business towards the modern data stack. You'll help design, build, and optimise the core data infrastructure that powers our products and decisions. You’ll be responsible for creating scalable, high-performance data pipelines and ensuring our central data warehouse serves as a trusted source of truth across the business.
You’ll work alongside cloud engineers, analysts, and product stakeholders to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and usability of our data ecosystem — all while mentoring junior team members and championing modern data practices.
What You’ll Do
- Own Data Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines with proper error handling, monitoring, and version control.
- Architect the Warehouse: Structure our analytical datastore to support reporting, self-serve analytics, and business decision-making.
- Transform with Confidence: Use tools like dbt to build clean, reliable transformations, documented for full transparency.
- Implement Datamarts: Partner with business teams to create domain-specific datamarts that are accurate, accessible, and actionable.
- Enable Automation: Use infrastructure-as-code principles to reduce manual work and boost system efficiency.
- Maintain Data Quality: Monitor, validate, and continuously improve data integrity, freshness, and completeness.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, resolve issues, and deliver solutions that unlock insights. Be a data subject matter expert to work with engineers for implementing effective data solutions.
- Mentor Others: Share knowledge and guide the growth of junior engineers and analysts across the business.
What You’ll Bring
- 5 - 7+ years of experience in data engineering or architecture
- Hands-on production experience with modern data stack tools (e.g., Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake)
- Strong SQL and Python skills with a deep understanding of data transformation, orchestration, and modelling
- Experience with cloud-based data services, especially AWS
- Familiarity with SaaS application integrations (e.g., HubSpot, Zendesk, Jira)
- Experience using Git and CI/CD workflows in a data context
- A mindset of ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills — you're comfortable translating data engineering concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- A collaborative, mentoring spirit that uplifts those around you
What We Offer
- Birthday leave + floating cultural holiday
- A paid day to support a charity of your choice
- $250 annual wellness reimbursement
- Flexible working arrangements
- Training budget for professional development
- A high-impact, fast-growth environment where your work directly helps protect Australian businesses
